General Strategies[]

At it's core, Tsum Tsum is ultimately about speed. Locating and making chains as fast as possible is the most basic skill required. Some hints for beginners:

  • Complete the Coloring Missions. Gadget Hackwrench is a moderately strong burst Tsum and about the best beginner Tsum you can quickly get (and far superior to Mickey). The others Tsums you will get from the Coloring Missions will enable you to usually complete the missions required for the Silver pin in Events, possibly even the Gold pin.
  • Chains do not need to finish clearing before starting your next chain. As soon as you finish one chain, immediately start on the next. As you make your chain, you should be looking for the next chain.
  • Tsums do not need to finish moving before making a chain. You can make chains even with falling Tsums, although this can be difficult.
  • Learn the Fever Time Strategy (see below).
  • Focus on building up your coins. Do not worry about score. Do not compare yourself to other players. Other players are likely FAR beyond your level, both in experience, Tsums and coins. Many have been playing for years, if not over a decade. You should not expect to come close to that level even within a year.
  • Save Item Tickets for passing missions. Use boosts for this purpose only. Once you have considerably stronger units, boosts like Coin boost or 5->4 may be more profitable, but for beginners, they're mostly a waste of resources.
  • Save your coins for Pickup Capsules, Select boxes (if there's a particularly useful or powerful Tsum in it only), and Lucky Time's (only if that month's Tsums are required for a Sticker Book or Cute Shop event).
  • Try to make enough coins each month to buy out the (usually) 2 Pickup Capsules (900,000 coins, total).
  • Watch for the leaks on the Reddit or Facebook page to plan in advance how to spend your coins.
  • If you have the option to watch ad's, use it to max the skill on all your Happiness Tsums. Use it to unlock levels too.

Fevers[]

You have to clear 29 Tsums to enter fever time, but be quick! If you wait too long, the fever meter starts to drop and you will need to clear additional Tsums to enter Fever. There are two ways to maximize your fever times. One is with a Fever Skill Tsum. The other is to use the Fever Time Strategy (if you don't have a Fever Skill Tsum).

Fever Time Strategy[]

The Fever Time Strategy is a core technique useful for a wide variety of missions. When you enter Fever time, you instantly get 5 seconds added to your clock. More time gives you the opportunity to clear more Tsums, make more coins, increase your combo, generate more bubbles, and, of course, trigger more fevers. Combos can't be broken during Fever either. This method works best with mid-strong burst Tsums (including Gadget) with a charge of about 14-15.

  • Charge up your skill.
  • If you are in fever time, start clearing Tsums other than your MyTsum until fever time ends.
  • Once fever time ends (or if you aren't in fever time), activate your skill. If you are using a moderately strong burst Tsum, you should immediately get back into fever. If using a weaker burst Tsum you may need to burst the bubble generated after activating your skill.
  • Once back in fever time, repeat.

Typically, an average skill player using a max skill Gadget using this technique should be able to clear over 700 Tsums, get a combo over 100, make 1,500+ coins, perform 8-9 skills, trigger 8-9 fevers and score about 2,000,000 points (this will vary depending on player level and Gadget + support Tsum levels).

This strategy does not work well for score, since points generated during fever time are multiplied, but since the burst skill needs to be activated outside of fever time, that score potential is lost. The exception is if you are using a fever skill burst Tsum. They will activate fever before triggering their burst.

Fever Skill Tsum Strategy[]

When using a Fever skill Tsum, it's better to wait until you are in Fever time to activate their skill, since it will count as a fever even though you are already in fever time.

  • Charge up your skill
  • When you are in fever time, activate your skill, but try not to pop any bubbles.
  • When you exit fever time, pop your bubbles to clear as many Tsums as possible as quickly as possible to get back into fever time.

A fever skill burst Tsum can typically generate 13-15 fevers. One exception is Jack Dawson. He isn't technically a fever skill Tsum, but clearing Rose Bukater Tsums that randomly drop during normal play will start fevers/add to the fever count. In his case, it's better to follow the standard Fever time strategy.

Chains[]

There are several methods for making long chains.

  • Use a Tsum who's skill allows you to chain random Tsums together (Rapunzel).
  • Use a random transform Tsum that transforms large numbers to Tsums that can be chained with your MyTsum (Minnie, Elizabeth Swann, Mrs. Potts, Eeyore).
    • Charge up your skill.
    • Clear as many non-MyTsums as possible.
    • Activate your skill.
  • Use a Tsum that transforms an area to Tsums that can be chained together (Nala, Chip, Dale, Jet Pack Alien).
  • Use a Tsum that transforms several Tsums into large Tsums that can be chained together (Sulley, Mummy Donald, Boo, Meilin Lee).
  • Use a Tsum who's skill transforms everything temporarily to 2 types of Tsums (Angel, Oswald).
  • SL6 Gaston.

A Random Transform Tsum or a Tsum that transforms several Tsums into large Tsums generally works best, as they work well, even at low skill levels. The others will only transform a limited area or transform Tsums for a limited time and usually require higher skill levels to be effective. Missions never require a chain longer than 45.

Skills[]

There are two methods for using large numbers of skills.

Combos[]

Some techniques to maximize your combo. For all situations, it's best to try and stay in fever as much as possible to prevent the combo from breaking.

Big Tsums[]

Although the Tips suggest that making longer chains may cause more big Tsums to drop, there has been little evidence to support this. Using Tsums that passively drop large Tsums (Monstro) or have a skill that creates large Tsums (including large bubbles) works best.

Bubbles/Special Bubbles[]

Use a Tsum who's skill generates bubbles. Using the bubble boost can help slightly. Multi-area burst Tsums sometimes generate bubbles with their bursts, if they're large enough (Conductor Mickey, Bat Hat Minnie).

For special bubbles:[]

  • Use a specialist bubble Tsum. Shivering Piglet always produces Time Bubbles with his skill. Princess Ariel always produces either Coin or EXP Bubbles with her skill. Gaston and Moana always produce Score Bubbles.
  • Use a random bubble Tsum like Ms. Bunny or Timothy.
  • Use Transform Tsums to make chains of appropriate lengths to make the target bubble (Eeyore, Little Oyster, etc.).

Tsums Cleared[]

Most Burst Tsums can clear about 700-800 Tsums per game, but when you have to clear more than that, there are two types of Tsums that work well for this type of mission:

  • Multi-Area Burst Tsums, especially those that also create bubbles with those bursts.
  • Bubble Tsums.

MyTsums Cleared[]

Most Burst Tsums will be able to clear ~100 MyTsums per game, but Tsums who's skill creates more of themselves can go far beyond that, especially Set Tsums. Pair Tsums & Charm Tsums also work well.
